Product Description
Nubs, an Iraqi dog of war, never had a home or a person of his own. He was the leader of a pack of wild dogs living off the land and barely surviving. But Nubs’s life changed when he met Marine Major Brian Dennis. The two formed a fast friendship, made stronger by Dennis’s willingness to share his meals, offer a warm place to sleep, and give Nubs the kind of care and attention he had never received before. Nubs became part of Dennis’s human “pack” until duty required the Marines to relocate a full 70 miles away–without him. Nubs had no way of knowing that Marines were not allowed to have pets.
So began an incredible journey that would take Nubs through a freezing desert, filled with danger tofind his friend and would lead Dennis on a mission that would touch the hearts of people all over the world.
Nubs and Dennis will remind readers that friendship has the power to cross deserts, continents, and even species.

This is one of the most heart touching stories I have ever heard, the best part is that it’s true. After reading this story (even though it’s a children’s book) I feel like something should be done for all the dogs over there.
I saw this book on the bestseller list, and the animal lover in me said….”read this book”. So happy I did….sniff sniff sniff”. Nubs, is a story about an Iraqi pack dog, barely surviving, whose life was changed when he met Marine Major Brian Dennis. Brian and the dog (he named Nubs) formed a special bond as Dennis shared his meals, gave him lots of attention and a offer a warm place to sleep. Things changed fore Nubs when Dennis had to transfer locations some 70 miles away, and could not take Nubs with him. Nubs was not about to give up on Dennis that easy. What happened next, is a touching story that will surely bring tears to your eyes….but don’t let that discourage you….READ THIS BOOK. (Ages 4 – 8 and the kid in us all).
Nubs is a remarkable story of the courage of a war dog and his new friend and guardian Major Dennis! I read their story first in a magazine while waiting at the pharmacy then immediately went to the bookstore and purchased the book. The only ones in my household to read the story to are my dog and my cat. I was in tears! It’s a remarkable and beautiful story of a bond between a man and a dog that transcends miles. If you aren’t a believer that dogs or animals have feelings or such a bond exists, this story will make you change your mind. It made me hug my pets even tighter. Congratulations to Nubs and Major Dennis!!!
I loved this book I think everyone should think about war dogs and things that happen to them It takes a special person to care that much to do something about war dogs and animals. No one grieves for them but a few good souls.
This book is just really nice for kids. It teaches about mankind and that miracles can happen! Really enjoy reading this to my kids!
