Product Description
There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.
Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.
Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.
Dangerously exciting and darkly romantic, Fallen is a page turning thriller and the ultimate love story.

I am so disappointed with this book I honestly don’t even know where to begin with my critique. The saddest part is I love this genre. The only thing I like about the book was the fact the Daniels last name was grigori. I thought it was clever since he was a fallen angel and that’s what they were called in the 2nd book of Enoch, so Ms Kate obviously did her homework. The interest ended there.
This is a classic example of a plot driven book, and since it is such the characters are extremely lacking. Luce Price is flat and void. There is no way to describe or elaborate because she isn’t memorable. I finished the book 5 min ago and I really can’t remember anything about her character. The same can be said for Daniel Grogori. He’s a bad boy. It’s not in the sexy way, the funny way, or the mysterious way. It’s just blah. The secondary characters are even worse because they seem all the same. They just take up space. I particularly loved how she mentions one character in the beginning, doesn’t give this character a name, and then Luce magically now this characters name ¾ into the book. I had to go back and reread because it’s never divulged when she learn her name. Very confusing and disappointing that someone didn’t catch it.
I don’t know how to explain this plot because nothing happens, nothing is answers, nothing is explained and all you have are more questions by the end of the book. Basically you have a fallen angel who falls in love with a mortal girl, for whatever reason this affects the whole word. Their love is the key to something. Two people love her, however I thought the one guy hated her, but I guess I got my signals wrong. This book has such a good idea for a plot, it sounds cool but the delivery of it is none excitant.
The writing is basic boring and cliché. I found myself more than once wanting to just bang my head against the wall. There is no hook, vocabulary is basic, style is standard and the writing overall is just tedious.
Originally is a 1 because you don’t know what she’s going to do with the story, so far all you have is a forbidden love with a rushed and unrealistic ending. There is nothing that makes it out of the ordinary. The only original ploy was the shadows, but they aren’t explained and are very confusing.
Overall this book will not be entering my library and I am very happy that I waited to borrow the book instead of buying it. I know this is part of a series and the second book could be better and have some answers, however I don’t like the characters. I really don’t care who Luce ends up with, why she is so special, or why their love affects the world. I wasn’t able to connect or invest in the story. I won’t read it again and I wouldn’t recommend it unless you really like angel stories
This book was a nice read. Held my attention and keep me going. It is an easy read for people looking for a good book. Looking forward to the next installment in 2010.
This book really lagged in the timing and progression of the story. Basically it kicked up at the end and totally makes you have to get the next book. I’m not excited, but rather annoyed.
Angels seem to be the common trend this season. First Hush, Hush breaking the literary world into the idea; then followed with this extraordinary tale in Fallen. I have spent the last two days solid reading this book all the way through. This is another addicting read that will leave you questioning for days to come, or until the next books is released. Kate writes with emotion spilling from the pages allowing her readers to not only read the story, but experience it first hand.
Being Lauren Kate first book I was impressed by her ability to rise above. Although, the story line did appear vaguely jumbled in the beginning as author was attempting set up the storyline, as well as, Luce’s past for the back-story. Though, once the story progressed the transition from past to present became fluent and easily distinguishable. Proving that the author quickly adapted to the flow of her own story once momentum was build. Lauren Kate is no amateur in my book and the twists were not lost on this book.
Few books can you find that contain so many awesome characters in one book. Luce is the main character and the carrier of this story, obviously. Although, this story required all of the other character for the formation of such a tremendous story. The length of Fallen at moments seemed extreme, but once finished it was required and worth very minute that Kate spent building each and every character. Once the book began nearing the end every detail became clear quickly.
My instincts tell me this is not a story to be taken lightly, and that this author is not done yet. So it would be best to remember everything read. When she manages to twist your story once more in the last two pages of the story; it is safe to assume their is more excitement to come. The conclusion: I am sold!
Wow! This was one of the best romances I have read all year. The mystery of what was really happening to Luce and Daniel made this book so, so difficult to put down. The author’s writing style, almost lyrical at times, kept me so engrossed. Luce, clueless at times, did make me want to shake her. But that is only because I became so invested in her story. And Daniel, hot and cold by turns, at first baffled me. But by the end of the book, I definitely understood why he behaved this way. This is a very romantic story about star crossed lovers and the battle between good and evil. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
