Another of Kevin Henkes’ adoringly cute mouse stories, this time with Lilly learning a lesson about thinking things through and consequences, in the context of the first day of school. It all works out in the end, of course, but we can relate to Lilly’s extreme excitement when she can’t help but bring her new purple purse to school despite the rules.
