This excellent book is told from the point of view of a brother of a trans girl — who used to be treated as a duo, a pair of brothers not far apart in age. We learn in the author’s note at the end of the book that she wrote it based on her own family’s experience, and after finding that picture books available did not meet her needs: “When a sibling was present in a picture books about gender transition, they teased or questioned the legitimacy of the change, even if they eventually learned to accept it. I didn’t want my son to see the wrong models in these stories or assume he was the ‘bad guy’ in our story.” A great selection to help siblings through their own adjustment to the transition of a brother or sister.
