Before there was Venus and Serena, there was trouble — Althea Gibson. Althea was a tomboy from Harlem, NY. She played any game with a ball and ran with the boys. Everyone around her called her Trouble. One day she was handed a tennis racket and taught to focus her strength and energy on the court, and soon enough, Althea became the first African American woman to win Wimbledon. The color-washed black-and-white images in this book project the spirit and vibrancy of Althea.
