One Plastic Bag: Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of the Gambia

Isatou Ceesay grew up in Njau, Gambia, where she started to notice the negative impact plastic bags had on her environment and community. People dropped plastic bags on the side of the road, they stayed there and accumulated, and then livestock started to eat them. When Ceesay realized this, she and other women in her village decided to recycle the plastic bags and create reusable bags, showing that, when people work together, they can have a positive impact.
